Gudetama is the story of a lazy, relatable egg Gudetama, and the endlessly optimistic, Shakipiyo. Together they set out on a journey to find their ‘mommy’ Rather than retelling the story in the style that it is already known for, I wanted to reframe the way the story is told by completely changing the art direction of the existing product. By animating the story in a rubber hose style, it allowed for gags that wouldn’t otherwise work, it also allowed me to capture the feeling of a Saturday morning cartoon.
